Some good friends from Dublin introduced us to Rafa’s a few years ago, the food is extremely good quality, the portions very generous and the prices are ridiculously cheap! – these factors combined with attentive , friendly service are no doubt the reason why the restaurant is ever popular with locals and visitors alike. People often have the impression that the Marbella/Puerto Banus area of the Costa Del Sol is only for the very well healed, but the truth is that there are numerous restaurants where you can get excellent value for money as well as those where a second mortgage may seem like the only option to pay the bill! 

The benefit of having a house, rather than staying in a hotel is the ability to significantly reduce the cost of a holiday, whilst having far more space and luxury than a hotel can offer. We have an excellent, well equiped kitchen with every modern convenience so the option to have nights in is not only inviting but cost effective. Our BBQ in the private garden is used regularly and there is something very satisfying about drinking good wine at €4 per bottle, rather than paying €20 for the same bottle in some restaurants! The children tell us that the service is very good too! In the daytime we are privileged to be very close to the beach and the choice of 5 swimming pools on the small complex of ‘townhouse style’ villas ensures that there is always plenty of space to ‘stay at home’. The pools are all beautifully maintained by the dedicated staff using quality chemicals which you can find on the Spa Master web site www.spamaster.co.uk 

We were fortunate enough to stay until the end of July and the extra time was also useful to get a few jobs done in and around the house, like having a state-of-the-art touch-screen digital wall safe installed. We have been considering starting to let the property to other families for holidays to help pay for the gardener, community fees etc. – maybe a little left over for the school fees if were lucky! All in all a fabulous holiday with great weather – something we understand was missing in the UK!
